7 Health & Wellness Trends for 2023

With the end of the year approaching quickly, you might be wondering what’s trending for health and wellness for 2023. If improving your overall health and wellness is one of your new year’s resolutions, please schedule a consultation with me at Twin Cities Integrative Medicine in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

Health & Wellness Trends for 2023

Personalized approach to patient care

This is something I’ve been doing already! I am so happy that other doctors are starting to get onboard the personalized approach to patient care. Many patients come to me because they feel their doctor is not listening to them or dismissing their symptoms. A personalized approach to patient care focuses more on prevention and overall patient health.

Better mental health solutions

The pandemic and lockdowns brought mental health to the forefront of conversations due to increased feelings of anxiety, depression and loneliness. While it’s great that we’re talking about mental health more, there also needs to be better mental health solutions to help more people. In 2023 there will hopefully be an even bigger focus on digital and holistic solutions to be more accessible for patients needing care.

Improved technology

Technology already plays a big role in our healthcare system, and it’s only going to get more advanced especially with things like wearables. Continuous monitoring takes a proactive approach and allows both the patient and doctor to see vital data. I am excited for the improvement in wearable healthcare technology!

Push for plant-based foods

It goes without saying but eating healthy is so important to overall health and wellness. Even if you don’t want to give up meat completely, incorporating plant-based sides or doing “Meatless Monday” is an easy way to incorporate more healthy foods in your diet.

Digital detox

This is a trend I’ve been trying to practice for a while! It can be difficult, but it’s very important for your health and wellness to take a break from electronics. Set aside some phone, computer and TV-free time each day, even if it’s only for 15 minutes. Meditate, read a book, go for a walk, cook, or pick up a fun hobby that you’ve always wanted to try.

More focus on sleep hygiene

We all know that it’s important to get enough sleep every night. I hope that in 2023 we start to prioritize a good night’s sleep. Sleep hygiene refers to healthy habits, behaviors and environmental factors that can be adjusted to hopefully lead to a better night’s sleep.

Low impact workouts

Not everyone wants to run or lift weights, and that’s okay! (It’s also great if you do want to do those things!) Low impact workouts are also a great way to get your daily exercise in. You may just have to work a little harder to get your heart rate up to really see the benefits. Since we know how bad inactivity is for our health, going for a brisk walk around the neighborhood can really make a difference.

These are just some of the trends I hope to see more of in 2023! What are you looking forward to in the new year?
